{"id":7838,"date":"2015-03-17T16:45:16","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T16:45:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ft-agency.com\/wordpress\/?p=7838"},"modified":"2015-03-17T16:45:16","modified_gmt":"2015-03-17T16:45:16","slug":"chinas-huayi-brothers-signs-18-movie-deal-with-secret-u-s-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ft-agency.com\/wordpress\/chinas-huayi-brothers-signs-18-movie-deal-with-secret-u-s-company\/","title":{"rendered":"China\u2019s Huayi Brothers Signs 18-Movie Deal with Secret U.S. Company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the latest major East-West movie production and financing development, China\u2019s Huayi Brothers Media has reached an 18-picture, three-year deal with an unnamed U.S. company.<\/p>\n<p>The deal was announced as a regulatory filing in China without naming the U.S. party to the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Huayi sources said that the move is subject to a system of internal shareholder approvals and that might mean it will be a further two weeks before the company officially names its U.S. partner.<\/p>\n<p>With the deal put together through its wholly-owned US subsidiary, Huayi will help fund, produce and distribute 18 feature films through 2017. The U.S. unit was established last September with start-up capital of $130 million.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>FTA can act as your Chinese Celebrity Agency and help you contact book any<a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/ft-agency.com\/wordpress\/celebrities\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese Celebrity<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to the regulatory note, Huayi will also retain distribution rights in Greater China including HK\/Macau, Taiwan and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Huayi says that that it will draw three financial benefits from the partnership: distribution fees; a direct share of global revenues; and profits in proportion to its equity positions in the movies.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><em>FTA can provide funding for overseas projects with A-list celebrities attached<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not only a step for Huayi Brothers\u2019 internationalization, but also the internationalization of all Chinese film companies,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p>Huayi already has a international sales arrangement with IM Global, but the Stuart Ford-headed company is understood not to be the partner.
