Welsh actor\u00a0Luke Evans<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cThe Hobbit\u201d) and Elisabeth Moss have joined the cast of Ben Wheatley\u2019s \u201cHigh-Rise,\u201d which is being produced by\u00a0Jeremy Thomas<\/a>\u2019\u00a0Recorded Picture Company<\/a>. As previously announced, other thesps include\u00a0Tom Hiddleston<\/a>, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons and James Purefoy, as well as Wheatley\u2019s regular players Reece Shearsmith and Peter Ferdinando, and comedian Dan Renton Skinner.<\/p>\n

Screenplay, which is an adaptation of J.G. Ballard\u2019s thriller, is penned by Wheatley\u2019s regular collaborator Amy Jump. Evans is best known for his role as Bard in \u201cThe Hobbit\u201d trilogy, and blockbusters such as \u201cImmortals\u201d and \u201cFast and Furious 6.\u201d He will next be seen as the lead in \u201cDracula Untold,\u201d and \u201cThe Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.\u201d Moss, who is best known for her role in \u201cMad Men,\u201d won a Golden Globe this year for \u201cTop of the Lake.\u201d She has also appeared in pics \u201cOn the Road,\u201d \u201cGet Him to the Greek\u201d and \u201cGirl, Interrupted.\u201d \u201cHigh-Rise\u201d is slated for a July start in Belfast, with Thomas producing through RPC. Financiers include Film4, the BFI Film Fund and Scope Invest Producteurs of Belgium, with support from Northern Ireland Screen. The worldwide rights to the film have been acquired by HanWay Films. Manuel Chiche\u2019s new company The Jokers has picked up the rights for France, and Studiocanal will distribute in the U.K.<\/p>\n

Wheatley is considered one of the U.K.\u2019s best young directors, having created a stir with his provocative films \u201cSightseers,\u201d \u201cKill List\u201d and \u201cA Field in England.\u201d Wheatley recently completed shooting on the new season of \u201cDoctor Who\u201d for the BBC. \u201cHigh-Rise\u201d centers on a new residential tower built on the eve of Margaret Thatcher\u2019s England, at the site of what will soon become the world\u2019s financial hub. Designed as a luxurious solution to the problems of the city, it is a world apart. Hiddleston plays Robert Laing, a young doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, the visionary architect Anthony Royal (Irons). Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal\u2019s devoted aide Charlotte (Miller).<\/p>\n
