Newly formed film financier Cosmos Filmed Entertainment has closed its first major deal with Chinese actress Fan Bingbing to star in its first two projects.

The first film to be financed and produced by Cosmos starring Bingbing will be the historical fantasy “The Moon and the Sun” helmed by Sean McNamara. They will follow that up with the caper pic “Dragon and Phoenix” which will be a Chinese co-production.

“The Moon and the Sun” tells the story of Louis XIV trying to achieve eternal life by taking the life force from a mermaid, played by Bingbing, who has been captured by the French Navy.

“Dragon and Phoenix” is set in Shanghai and involves the theft and the attempt to recover one of China’s greatest artifacts, a vase named Dragon & Phoenix. Fan Bingbing, is set to play a part of the team who must find out who stole the vase and then safely recapture it.

The WME-repped Bingbing has starred in more than 30 films in China with “Double Xposure” being her most recent film. These two films will mark her debut in any English-speaking film.
