Not only is Houston Rockets guard, Jeremy Lin having another successful season in the NBA but his documentary “Linsanity,” has been acquired in China by Metan Development, and is hugely popular.
Metan acquired theatrical, television and online rights in China and has begun screening it online exclusively via the iQiyi ad-supported film and TV portal, through its PPS Video sub-brand.

Basketball is hugely popular in China. Earlier this week it was announced that NBA China and online media giant SINA Corp. have teamed up to produce “NBA Mitan,” a streaming original weekly series aimed exclusively at Chinese fans.
“Jeremy Lin’s story is one that resonates and is relatable to everyone in China – old and young, male and female,” said Gordon Chu, VP of business development at Metan.
Directed by Evan Leong, the film is the backstory of Jeremy Lin, the basketball playing star of Taiwanese-American descent. With production by Brian Yang, the film-makers started documenting his rise long before Lin burst on to the NBA scene. They also captured Lin’s determination once the ‘Linsanity’ public adulation had begun.
“When we started this project, Jeremy wasn’t even in the NBA. We didn’t know where we were going to wind up and now for us to be debuting the film in time for Chinese New Year in a country where hundreds of millions of basketball fans love him, it’s all very exciting,” said Yang.
