Jackie Chan’s death-defying action flick Chinese Zodiac might be headed to the United States sometime next year.

Ramy Choi, director of distribution and acquisition at Jackie & JJ International Limited, revealed the action flick could find its way into theaters across North America this spring or summer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a specific date hasn’t been hammered out just yet.

News of a US release date for Jackie Chan’s Chinese Zodiac arrive in the wake of the film’s theatrical debut in Asia. Choi said the film enjoyed a strong opening weekend, generating over $7 million in mainland China. However, the film failed to connect with moviegoers in Hong Kong, where it only managed to pull in around $64,500. Digital Spy reports the film also posted hefty numbers in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

European fans have reason to rejoice as well. Chinese Zodiac will reportedly hit theaters overseas at the same time it arrives in the US. Choi said he expects the film to screen in “a few hundred theaters.”

The Inquisitr previously reported that the third installment in Jackie Chan’s Armour of God series will be the actor’s final excursion into life-threatening cinema. Although he has accepted a role in The Expendables 3, Chan will no longer risk his life for our amusement.

In addition to the next installment in Sylvester Stallone’s action-packed franchise, Chan is currently working on another entry in his long-running Police Story series. Screen Rant reports the Rush Hour star is currently working on a Hollywood project called Skip Tracer.
